Need Gift Ideas?
If you’re like me and tend to wait until the last minute to finish your holiday shopping, I’ve got you covered! Each year, the children’s department puts together a list of books that make great gifts for all the little ones in your life. Check out this year's list here, and then figure out what to do with all of your free time that would’ve been spent figuring out what to buy! ;)

Happy 2015!
We’re starting off 2015 with some great programs that your kids are sure to enjoy. Check them out:
January 5th 10:00 AM – Storytime Registration
It’s almost time to register for our six-week winter storytime session. Registration begins at 10 AM on Monday, January 5th. Preschool, kindergarten, and family storytimes do not require registration, but if you want to sign up your baby (newborn – 18 months) or toddler (18 – 36 months) for one of our weekly storytimes, make sure you sign up early; our spots fill up fast! The easiest way to register is online at http://wclibrary.info/events/, but you can also register by phone or in person at either library. Storytimes for this session will begin the week of January 12th.
January 6th 10:30 – 11:30 AM (Centerville Library) – Baby Boogie
Your little ones (newborn – 36 months) will boogie themselves silly with our favorite storytime songs and activities. There is no registration required, so there’s nothing stopping you from coming to this fun-filled event!
January 6th 6:30 – 7:30 PM & January 7th 10:00 – 11:00 AM (Centerville Library) – Fun With The Very Hungry Caterpillar
This workshop, part of our Every Child Ready to Read program, is for parents and children (newborn – 5 years). Parents will learn how to incorporate early literacy activities into everyday reading, writing, singing, talking, and playing with your children. Parents and children will have the opportunity to practice using some of these new tools. Registration is required for this event (http://wclibrary.evanced.info/signup/eventcalendar.aspx), and space is limited.
Enjoy the rest of your holiday family time, and we look forward to seeing you at the library soon!

Holiday Tunes
Singing, one of the five early literacy practices, is a great way for children to improve their phonological awareness. Songs help slow down language and let children hear the smaller sounds in words. This is really beneficial for children as they begin to learn to read. What better time is there than the holidays to make singing part of your daily routine? If you need a little inspiration, check out our extensive collection of holiday music.
I hope you and your loved ones enjoy a safe, happy, and musical holiday!
