Rockin in My School Shoes

Pete the Cat, the grooviest cat around, is back in his second picture book adventure and this time his shoes don't just change colors, they take him to different places in his school.  The book includes music to give you an idea of how the tune goes, and it will be stuck in your head in no time!

Books that have a musical component are a great way to get your child used to hearing the smaller sounds within words.  This ability is known as phonological awareness and is important to your child's early literacy development.  Syllables within songs have corresponding notes, making it easier for children to understand that words are made up of different sounds.  Children who struggle with reading, often have trouble with this skill.  Pick up Pete's newest, and rock out while you read.
